Unfortunately more people know nothing than everything!

I told you so!

Democracy in countries where illiteracy is at high levels CANNOT WORK. Case in point: Egypt. Not because Egyptians voted for the Islamists, but because most of the voters had NO IDEA who they were voting for. Never mind the symbols as opposed to names on the ballots, but in most cases, voters were asking the guard where to put that cross. He would then direct them to the spot.
I told them so during my last visit when I saw the jubilation following Mubarak’s oust… I know better.

Enough

These republican candidates should be told to stay home. It is so embarrassing. The whole world is laughing at us and it is hurting this country.
Somebody take charge please.

Unemployment figures

October 23, 2011

According to the Wall Street Journal, during the last ten years, US multinationals fired 2.9 million workers here, AND hired 2.4 million workers abroad! Does anyone ask : WHY? Yes of course… Because it is cheaper to hire abroad even if that fellow in India is incapable of communicating effectively.
Next question is: OK I understand these companies want to reduce costs and increase profits. OK then who benefits from that? Aha! The investor in these companies.
Then all Americans should benefit right? Wrong… The 2008 financial crisis eliminated the savings of the middle class by eroding their pensions which are invested in the stock market. So then who benefits? Those who can afford to. The top 5% or less. And what do they do with this money? They re-invest it in the stock market in the same instruments that caused the financial disaster of the past ten years.
Do we better understand the worldwide :Occupy Wall Street and equivalents movements now? God help us…

Elections

September 24, 2011

As long as we have elections every two years, and we allow campaigns to start 18 months before election day, WE ARE DOOMED. We get six ‘honest’ months of governing???? Shame on the United States of America.

Interesting quote

I read an interesting quote by Thomas Szasz:
‘The stupid neither forgive nor forget, the naive forgive and forget, the wise forgive but do not forget’
I want opinions on this controversial matter.

The president

September 14, 2011

‘When the president stays insulated with his little circle that doesn’t know how to push his messages, and he lets the nihilist Republicans go unchallenged in their crazy claims to be saving the country they’re hurting, he sets the stage for Rick Perry.’
‘The master of his own narrative in print let the Republicans define the narrative in politics. And Obama likes to come in late, after the other players have staked out positions. It’s a strangely risk-averse tact, given the fact that he took two of the boldest risks in history — jumping into the presidential race in the first place and giving the kill order on Bin Laden on sketchy intelligence.
‘The reawakened Republicans are no longer the loyal opposition. They’re revolutionary Bolsheviks who want to eat Obama alive.’
Maureen Dowd
